FITAG 2012 (Festival Internacional de Teatre Amateur de Girona )2012
Deadline: April 2, 2012
at Girona (Spain)
This foreword of the 12th edition of the International Non Professional Theatre Festival of Girona is meant to express the unique melange of shared emotions, magical afternoons and evenings of theatre, strengthened friendships that we watched blossom and grow and mesmerizing human experiences; all the same, it speaks about the effort and illusion of the worldwide unforgettable theatre proposals, of the fruitful theatre exchanges throughout the year, of premiere nights full of anxiety, and of valuable co productions created in our city with the help of all the FITAG team and the institutions that sponsor it, of which some are still performed.
Now, more than ever, all of us who support and manage this prestigious international theatre event, would like to focus our attention on those who have not yet been convinced by our project, passing on to them the FITAG spirit. An international non professional theatre festival is a window on the world for all those who cannot count on the support of a professional industry to publicize and support them outside their local environment. It rewards the invisible efforts, that are rarely acknowledged and it represents a much more important publicity tool for our city than many would consider.
On the occasion of the 12th edition of FITAG, we will put aside the economic crisis, the money and the social cuts. Time is out of joint, as Hamlet says, and out of solidarity with the times we are living, FITAG also takes a step back regarding its content. Nevertheless, it conveys the same ideas and values that make it more than a theatre festival: it is a standard, a showcase, an agora, a tool, a party, a prize, a city - a different way of understanding amateur theatre dynamics in our region.
Under the guise of internationality, we organize an annual meeting to watch the best harvest of the Girona amateur theatre. Once again, I suggest you approach FITAG free of any prejudices and willing to share let yourself spellbound. If after these five intense summer days you have touched happiness with your fingertips, it will all have been worthwhile. Long live theatre and long live FITAG.
